Leadership is leadership.  Parenting is leadership.  Whether we are leading teams, family big or small, classrooms full of children, organisations, churches, businesses, society, clubs … the group that we are leading is simply a group that we are leading.  No matter the situation: We lead by example.

When we become aware and mindful of how we are leading, we are able to make choices that benefit those who look up to us for their examples on how to do life, work, manage home, family, projects, successfully achieve financial management, and much besides.

We cannot rise above the ceiling set by our leaders – at least not without tremendous effort and resolve.  Thus it behoves leaders to be mindful of their role, their responsibility and their example. Those in leadership, in any arena, are being followed, observed, learnt from.

Take a moment to consider these questions:
What example am I following, in order to lead others well?
What ‘fragrance’ am I leaving in my wake?
How is my leadership affecting the lives of others?

The following piece was written for parents – everything starts at home – and it applies to all leaders.

How do we teach our children to walk?
We lead by example.

It is as simple as that.
